Zaniklé obce Šumavy, jejich historie a současnost
MUSILOVÁ, Žaneta
This diploma thesis deals with a topic of abandoned villages of the Bohemian Forest. The thesis is first processed by literary research, which describes the Bohemian Forest research in individual chapters - location and area, geology, paedology, fauna and flora, hydrology, climate, regional relief structure, tourism and nature protection. There is also a chapter on the history of the Bohemian Forest and its settlement, and subsequently a section on military districts in the Bohemian Forest region, specifically Boletice and the former military district Dobrá Voda. The literature research is followed by a chapter determining the goal of the the-sis, and subsequently methodology, in which the selected area for the practical part, and methods of the thesis, are evaluated. In the final phase of the work, history of the selected area is drawn up, and then the area with abandoned villages and settlements of the former military district Dobrá Voda in the ArcMap program is mapped. The last point is an evaluation and a more detailed description of history of the three selected abandoned villages and settlements, together with an evaluation and comparison of the development of land use in the years 1950, 2000 and 2001.
The Comparison of the Traditional Material Transport in the Mountain Economy of the Krkonoše and Šumava Mountains
Smrčka, Aleš ; Pargač, Jan (advisor) ; Dědovský, Daniel (referee)
This thesis The Comparison of the Traditional Material Transport in the Mountain Economy of the Krkonoše and Šumava Mountains introduces the traditional forms of material and goods transport in the Krkonoše Mountains (the Giant Mountains) and the Šumava Mountains (the Bohemian Forest). The way of life in the highland area of Giant Mountains was significantly affected by the Alpine colonization in the second half of the 16th century. The Alpine colonists brought knowledge of logging, mountain economy and transport equipment into the mountains. Inhabitants of the Giant Mountains used water power, skids, later sledge called "rohacky" for bundles of wood. They also used backpacks, textile "loktuse", baskets, wheeled means of transportation and animal skid for the transport of other goods and materials. The comparison shows that the Bohemian Forest unlike the Giant Mountains was populated by gradual colonization of woodmen from the surrounding regions. Various forms of traditional vehicles were applied in this area. Unlike the Giant Mountains there was increasingly developed timber transport on the canals and rivers. The thesis maps the traditional modes of material transport in both regions, highlightes their differences and records their transformation in the present. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Development of Pleistocene glaciation of the Czech part of the Šumava Mts. (Case study of the Černé and Čertovo Lakes)
Vočadlová, Klára ; Křížek, Marek (advisor) ; Kalvoda, Jan (referee) ; Minár, Jozef (referee)
This Ph.D. thesis presents new facts about a paleoenvironmental development of the northern part of the Bohemian Forest (area of Černé Lake and Čertovo Lake) in the Late Pleistocene and Early Holocene. The main goals of the research are: characterize the glacier landforms in the Bohemian Forest and define the variance of these landforms; determine factors influencing formation and development of the glaciation in the study area; describe environmental settings and its changes during deglaciation and in Early Holocene by using environmental proxies. This research proceeds from original data obtained by geomorphological mapping, morphometric analysis and proxy data analyses originated from a sediment sequence in a peat bog in the Černé Lake vicinity. The common attributes of the Bohemian Forest cirques and cirque variability was determined using morphometric and morphologic characteristics of the cirques on the Bavarian and Czech side of the mountain range. These characteristics were compared with other cirques of the Bohemian Massif and other chosen mountain ranges of the world. The cirque overdeepening was defined on the basis of headwall shapes and it emerged that overdeepening of the cirques in the Bavarian Forest and in the High Sudetes reflects a different extent of the Pleistocene glaciation....

Genetic variation and reproduction strategy of Gentiana pannonica in different habitats
EKRTOVÁ, Ester
The reproduction strategy and genetic variability of Gentiana pannonica, an endangered species in the Czech Republic, were studied. The differences of vegetation composition, seedlings recruitment, seed set and genetic variation within and among six various populations G. pannonica in the Šumava Mts. and two populations in the Alps of this species were investigated in a field. The vegetation composition differs between primary and secondary habitat of G. pannonica and seedlings recruitment was recorded only in primary habitat. The reproduction output of the study species is probably influenced by sufficient amount of pollinators. No serious genetic diversity between populations in the Šumava Mts. and the Alps was found. The genetic differences were found only between populations on the primary habitats and populations on the secondary mountain meadows.
Ecology and genetic diversity of Gentiana pannonica populations in different geographical and habitat scales
EKRTOVÁ, Ester
The thesis focused to population ecology and genetics of subalpine species Gentiana pannonica. Pollination ecology of species and generative reproduction in different habitat (primary vs. secondary) were investigated in the field. Genetic variation and structure of G. pannonica populations were studied in three disjunct parts of its distribution range: the Eastern Alps, the Bohemian Forest, and the Giant Mts. Present distribution of G. pannonica in the central past of the Bohemian Forest were processed.

LOST VILLAGES IN THE BOHEMIAN FOREST. NOVÉ ÚDOLÍ, BUČINA, KVILDA
GÁLA, Jan
Annotation The thesis describes the history of the Bohemian Forest and then of two villages, that don´t exist anymore and also the history of one another, that still exists, but its development after the Second World War was very affected by the postwar events and the communistic regime. Except the own books, there were another titles and archival sources in the State archive of Prachatice, that were used for the writing of this thesis. Very important for the inspiration and for another informations was the visit of the museum in Kvilda, where you cand find the exposure regarding the history of the communities Kvilda and Bučina. Very heplful were also the advices of the information centre in Stožec and mainly the trip to Nové Údolí, where are some interesting ambiguous information boards with authentic pictures in the place of the original village. The first part desribes the historical development of the Bohemian Forest. The following chapters put mind to the Second World War and the time of the communistic regime within the Bohemian Forest. The last parts are dedicated to the single villages. The thesis tries to show, that there are many villages in the Bohemian Forest, that don´t exist any more, but nobody should forget them, because they were a part of the history of the beautiful mountain and they don´t deserve, to be forgotten.
Euglenophytes of the Czech Republic in view of South Bohemia and the Bohemian Forest
JURÁŇ, Josef
A list of photosynthetic euglenoids of the Czech Republic was made from works about algal flora of the Czech Republic and this list was confronted with similar works from the Slovak Republic, Poland, Romania, Ukraine and Slovenia. Following the literature about algae from South Bohemia and the Bohemian Forest a checklist of photosynthetic euglenoids from this area was compiled. Data from this list were completed by my samples from this area. There were found 2 taxons new for the Czech Republic and 3 taxons new for South Bohemia and the Bohemia Forest.
